True elegant 5 channel surround sound

At Wired 1 Consulting we specialize in being solution providers. This client was quite unsatisfied with the audio quality of his Sony flat screen, understandable as this sitting room is open to a very large kitchen/dining area! The lower left cabinet houses a DENON surround sound receiver and Bell HD television box, with a Paradigm PR-1 wireless subwoofer transmitter. The receiver is connected to the elegant Def Tech Mythos SSA42 sound bar with right, left, center, surround right and surround left (5 channels) enclosed in a gorgeous high gloss black aluminum cabinet (NOT plastic or particle board). There is also a Paradigm Monitor 8 subwoofer (off camera) plugged into a wall outlet. The sound is incredible! Another happy client!

5 channel, yes, 5 channel not 3, sound bar.

HEOS means quality streaming audio

In the past month we set up HEOS wireless audio systems for a number of clients. HEOS BY DENON is a wireless music streaming platform similar, to SONOS, a name familiar to a lot of consumers, but unlike SONOS that was designed by computer techs, HEOS was designed by audio engineers at DENON, an audio company that started in 1910…that’s over 100 years of understanding what sounds great! So there are plenty of performance advantages that you can’t get with SONOS. #1 HEOS supports and plays high bit audio, proven to audibly dramatically outperform compact disc. SONOS is limited to CD sound quality. #2 HEOS has Bluetooth high bit connectivity ability on every powered device (speakers & amps), so your buddy with the great tunes on his phone can Bluetooth connect to just one of your HEOS speakers and share it on ALL your HEOS speakers in the house! SONOS does not have Bluetooth. #3 With a HEOS 1 and HEOS GO you have a weather proof, rechargeable battery operated speaker system that can go anywhere you want music… with no wires that runs for 6 hours on a full charge! SONOS doesn’t have anything like this!

…i may never use iTunes ever again! Lol
This system is amazing. Thanks

An email quote from one of our new HEOS clients. It really is that good! Check out the link in this post. Then Wired 1 Consulting can get you on the HEOS Express, give us a call- (506)470-7510

"Sub" stantially improve your theatre system!

Got a home theatre set up that you think is pretty good? Here’s how to make it AWESOME!! The good news is that you don’t need to cut drywall or run wires. Just add a Paradigm PR-1 and a PBK (Perfect Bass Kit) compatible Paradigm subwoofer, and feel the bass like you’ve never heard before! Any new theatre that we design at Wired 1 Consulting has included 2 subwoofers to combat phase and room cancellations in the theatre for a number years now. The better audio/video receivers on the market today have 2 subwoofer outputs (but even if you only have 1 sub out you can make it work, easily). Adding a second powered subwoofer after the fact was always a messy job, but not with the PR-1. Simply connect the PR-1 to your amplifier/receiver’s subwoofer output and touch the “sync” button, plug your compatible Paradigm subwoofer into a wall plug. It’s that simple! Ask Wired 1 about perfecting the performance with a PBK calibration for your system.

Check out the PR-1 and the incredible line of Paradigm subwoofers here: Paradigm subwoofers

Let’s update a 9 year old entertainment system

I was referred by an old friend and client, to a friend of his that had just moved back to the area. He had great gear… 9 years ago, but a lot changes in the world of technology in close to a decade!

His speakers were in great shape and his Plasma TV’s, although not 4K, are still working good, so I suggested that he keep these components and update the rest of the gear to today’s standards. We are going to install a HEOS network for him that will give his family access to high bitrate streaming audio throughout the home and a stunning theatre experience in his 2 video systems. Check back to see the finished project!

Bell Clients – Check your settings!

This is CRITICAL information for any Bell Fibe clients that have their set top box connected to a digital surround receiver. It amazes me that with today’s advanced electronics that Bell Aliant hasn’t made a rudimentary change in the core programming of their HD and 4K (UHD) set top boxes to maintain settings. If the power goes out… as it seems to often in Atlantic Canada, the Bell Fibe HD and UHD boxes revert to “Stereo” audio output. When this happens you will still hear sound coming out of the front speakers of your surround speakers, but only out of these speakers. Here’s how to fix it. On the remote control select Menu, then Settings, then Audio/Video, then Audio and select “Surround sound” NOT “Stereo”. Confirm by selecting “Save” and exit the Menu screen. 2 things will happen: You will start to hear sound coming out of your rear speakers (on programming offering Dolby Surround) and the DOLBY DIGITAL light(s) will turn on on the front panel of your A/V receiver. Why they can’t fix this is beyond me, but it’s a hiccup in the programming of the box itself. I have asked Bell tech support why this happens and to date I have not received an answer. So, if you lose power, either because of a failure or unplugging equipment, make sure you check these settings!!

Latest update: Bell Aliant is aware of the problem and it will be fixed in an upcoming firmware update. However, they could not tell me when this update would happen! So for now, keep checking your settings.

Almost ready theatre

Just have to do the final touches on this custom theatre. It’s a Dolby Atmos system run by and Anthem MRX720 receiver with an additional Anthem PVA2 running the Atmos speakers. The speakers are all Paradigm, highlighted by the incredible Ci Pro P5 LCR and 2 Monitor Sub 12’s! I haven’t calibrated this system yet as we are waiting the arrival and installation of acoustic panels from Primacoustics and custom draperies, but OMG, this system sounds better than any theatre we have done so far!! More to come!

A Home Theatre takes shape

We are in the final stages of prep work for this fantastic home theatre. Paradigm SI Elite E5 LCR speakers are inserted in the wall in preparation for the 75″ Samsung QLED (in the foreground to be mounted on the wall. This is just a “fit for size” as the focus area is going to be given a wood background. So everything comes out again, the background is cut to size then everything gets remounted. I think they look killer just like they are but they are going to get even more magnificent! Stay tuned for more pics of this exciting project… wait till to see the theatre seating!!

The making of a home theatre, part 2

Things are rolling right along in this custom designed Dolby Atmos theatre by Wired 1 Consulting. Dry wall is now installed and the riser for the back row seating has been installed and filled with pea gravel for a completely non resonant platform. The ceiling speaker holes will get cut in next then we have to wait for the painting and carpeting to be completed before we can install the speakers and hang the 75″ TV. More pics to come!
