We were recently contacted by a gentleman that wanted a television mounted on his wall. He wanted a cantilevered mount, problem was that his historic home was built with lathe and horse hair plaster which makes it very difficult, if not impossible to find studs, and even if you find one they may be spaced differently that today’s standard 16″. We have done this work before. The wall needs to be reinforced with plywood to dissipate the torque from the combined weight of the TV and the bracket. We finished the project and our new client was extremely happy! Thanks Martin for letting us make it happen for you!

Day 2 of Wired 1 Consulting’s installation of this awesome theatre! Anthem receiver and Anthem power amplifier and a Furman UPS installed in pro rack cabinet. Now we wait for the electrician and drywall contractor to do their work, theatre gets a paint job and new carpeting, then we’re back to put in the speakers and the TV! If you are, like me, “really old”, you probably have about 500+ pieces of black, very heavy and space collecting vinyl records in your home (don’t feel bad, I have more than 2000!). No, I’m not saying to get rid of them. You could pack them up and store them in a dry corner of the basement, but, there is always that particular album that hold a special place in your soul… the soundtrack of your first date, your first car etc., that you want to dig out and give a spin for a trip down memory lane. Wouldn’t it be nice to just whip out your tablet or phone and play them any time you like. With today’s technology it’s as easy as simply playing them on your record player one last time and turning them into high quality digital files that you can easily take with you anywhere. If your turntable and cartridge (needle) are in good repair you can get yourself a NAD PP4 phono preamp. This little box plugs into your turntable, accepts both moving coil and moving magnet cartridge systems and gives you an output that can plug into any amplifier of receiver that has an input and, most importantly, gives you a USB output that can connect to your computer (Mac or PC). All you do is play your record and the computer software does the rest. Voila, your favourite music is now totally portable.

I was recently contacted by a long time client about the transition to 4K television and the new surround sound technologies. He owns a great set of Mirage speakers (front towers with built in powered subwoofers, center channel speaker and bi-polar surround speakers) that were well over 10 years old, but in great shape, but the TV and the older electronics had been giving them issues. I recommended that they keep the speakers, but the heart of the system needed an overhaul! A new 65″ UHD display got hooked up to a new UHD Blu-ray player and the old speakers (they still are awesome!) were hooked up to an Anthem AVM60 digital preamp/processor and a new Anthem 5 channel power amplifier.
