The second trip to St. Andrews by the sea got this great system all set up with network access so it can be operated with an IPhone, IPad or any computer anywhere in the house with full metadata feedback from the IPhone/IPad dock.
Our client was very happy with the end result and ease of operation!
A Rocking SpeakerCraft 11 zone audio system
Multi Zone System Upgrade
Upgrading an 11 zone “dumb” audio system with a SpeakerCraft programmable “smart” system. The old system blew up, probably due to a power surge. Note the lack of a power surge protector at the wall outlet. There will be one installed when we are done! Having a programmable system allows infinite possibilities in custom tailoring of the system and the addition of really cool things like home network connectivity and computer or IPhone/IPad control of the entire system including connected devices and the use of an IPod or IPhone as a music source with full metadata display of the music content. More pics to come!

Another two theatre home!
Anyone who has had the advantage of a properly designed home theatre will tell you it is, next to the kitchen the most used room in the house!
This client had a theatre that we designed for them in their current home and when time came to build their retirement home on the river they asked us to design 2 theatres! One downstairs in the living room using a flat panel LED TV and another upstairs using a front projection system.
It’s
in the wiring stages now and we will post updated pics as the “movie house” comes together.

Commercial Installations
A lot of people don’t realize that I was the primary designer and installer for the beautiful York Street Train station renovation in Fredericton. Unfortunately, the closure of Wacky Wheatley’s (the product supplier) meant that the final equipment installation went to another firm. But the result is a fully functioning High Definition conference facility able to record edit and broadcast via the internet. These are a few shots of our work on the construction project.

When to and when not to use wireless audio.
Great sound from electronic devices means true to life dynamics, stereo separation, rich, accurate frequency response. The quest is to make it sound like the recording engineer intended the playback to sound. It’s darn near impossible to precisely recreate the sound of the live performance, but the closer we can get to that target the more enjoyable an experience it will be!
The problem with most wireless speaker systems is they come in a plastic box, no bigger than the little cassette player that you used to take to the beach in your teens! Technology has come a long way, but to expect these devices to deliver enveloping stereo sound and true to life dynamics is only wishful thinking. In order to achieve stereo separation the speakers need to be separated and in order to re-create the dynamics of a grand piano you need power and speakers considerably larger than the tiny speakers enclosed in these plastic boxes! Think about it. In this little box we have a radio that receives the transmitted audio, an amplifier that is turning those radio waves into electrical signals and 2 or more speakers that have to fill your room with the sound of your favourite artist. If you have a very small room and you sit very close to the box you may get some semblance of what the artist intended. It sure isn’t going to give you tingles down your spine or raise the hairs on the back of your neck! Human audible memory is fickle, but emotional memory is fantastic! You will remember that – “OMG, I’ve never heard such great sound from a stereo system or an artists performance” feeling, but you’ll have a really hard time remembering exactly what is was that made it memorable. Wireless self contained audio does NOT create a memorable experience – PERIOD. Now, there are some wireless transmitter systems available that allow you to use a separate amplifier and a pair of speakers of your choosing, and these can work exceptionally. They take up a little more room but when your favourite song comes on you are emotionally involved with the performance!
Ask us how we can help you create some lasting memories from your electronics!

Is it working right??
At Wired 1 we have been kept busy lately by clients upgrading their television and internet delivery systems. While these installations can be fine for someone who simply has a television connected to these new boxes they can be a real nightmare for consumers that have more elaborate home theaters and distributed audio/video systems or use a universal remote control, like a Harmony, that needs to be programmed in order to operate the system properly.
If you have recently changed your delivery system and are running into issues, or you know of someone that has, give us a call or drop us a line. Wired 1 Consulting can make it work the way it is supposed to!

Hidden Elegance
We recently had the privilege of working on a residential renovation of a historic property in downtown Fredericton. The design incorporated a living room with a 60″ recessed Samsung LED panel and a full compliment of SpeakerCraft in ceiling speakers. A second recessed 46″ Sony panel in the master bedroom with SpeakerCraft in ceiling speakers and even an LCD TV in the ensuite bathroom!
All the source equipment (Denon A/V receiver and Blu-Ray player, Bell fiber optic routers and TV box) is concealed in an easily accessible cabinet. Controlled by a remote control from anywhere in the home!
The system is invisible until you turn it on!
