We know that in a lot of cases the area above the fireplace is the ONLY area that a TV can fit in a lot of living rooms. This presents one big problem. The TV is too high in the room for comfortable viewing from the couch. Here’s the answer! From Dynamic Mounting this motorized lift moves your television, and with the optional center mount adaptor, your sound bar or center speaker, to a height in front of your fireplace instead of over it . It extends 16 inches to clear your mantel and retracts to an almost flush position above the mantel when your viewing session has ended. It can be installed in new or existing applications. It’s a real neck saver! Give us a call today for more information and to book your customized installation today! (506)470-7510 click the link to see it in action! HERE

Has your system reached The END OF THE LINE?
OK, you just bought that new 4K television, but the TV doesn’t seem to have the right connections to hook up to your sound system, or your kids new PlayStation doesn’t have the same jacks on the back that the old one did. You are not alone! With the increase in todays digital technologies there comes a time that even equipment purchased as little as 5 years old can be incompatible. In some cases there are “work arounds” that can be configured, but they are accompanied by operational complications that make it down right difficult for the family to use! The heart and soul of your entertainment system is your Audio/Video receiver (processor or amplifier). This nerve center takes your picture and sound, decodes it accordingly and sends it to your speakers and your display device (television). Most of them also connect to the internet or to your smartphone or tablet wirelessly. Most of the better units are 4K compatible with as many as 8 or 9 HDMI connection ports! IT’S TIME FOR AN UPGRADE! To make sure that your new receiver is perfect for your system, contact the experts at Wired 1 Consulting. Authorized representatives for great electronics lines like Anthem, NAD, Harman Kardon, DENON, Marantz, ONKYO, Pioneer, Sony etc., at guaranteed lowest prices, we will have one that suits you to a tee!

It’s time to upgrade.
Is your entertainment system showing it’s age? Just how old is it anyway? Are you finding that new devices can’t be hooked up to your old amplifier? You’re not alone! The last decade has seen a veritable landslide of changes in the way home electronics interconnect with each other. Yes, that old system was great with your CD’s and vinyl LP’s, but your new 4K TV doesn’t have the same type of connections that your old TV set had so the sound is being played by the TV speakers, not your theater speakers. With the correct selection of new electronics you can still listen to your records and that CD collection can still be enjoyed BUT you can now connect and enjoy the latest in sound and video sources. Making the right decision is as easy as a call to Wired 1 Consulting. (506)470-7510

The Future is light!
Building a new home? Chances are that you are not future-proofing your home unless Wired 1 Consulting is handling your structured wiring! In days gone by, houses were wired for TV and internet with copper wiring (RG6 coax and Cat 5/6). With today’s expanding speeds and content that isn’t good enough! But, I’m going to use Wi-Fi you say! Although Wi-Fi has it’s uses, it is not fast enough to handle the ever increasing bandwidth of today’s and tomorrow’s digital streaming media, especially video. 4K television is practically the norm currently, and some manufacturers have just released 8K sets. In Japan (where digital satellite is the preferred delivery system) they are playing around with 16K media and delivery systems! Fiber optic cabling has the ability to carry these extremely high bandwidth signals throughout your home, giving you a future proof solution. Innovations in technology have brought wiring your home with fiber optic cabling an extremely cost effective solution. Contact us today for more information. You’ll be glad you did! (506)470-7510

Having a “balanced” Home Theater
I recently shared a Facebook post from one of our speaker manufacturers concerning the importance of balancing the sound in your home theater. In the early days of surround sound the source devices were, by today’s standards, quite primitive. VCRs (Video Cassette Recorders) and LDP (Laser Disc Players) only had the ability to deliver stereo audio playback, but commercial theaters since 1974 had the ability to deliver both stereo sound AND a discrete surround channel. There was lots of room on the theatrical movie film to add this separate audio track. Initially this track was monophonic, but movie producers quickly discovered that there was so much room on the film for audio that they could add more discrete tracks; center channel sound for better dialogue recognition; instead of monophonic, stereo rear channels could be added. This greatly enhanced the theater goer’s entertainment experience, but it wasn’t until digital video sources were developed that the home theater owner could experience the sound of a commercial theater. DVD brought a revolution to the audio delivered to the home theater market. Now the same theatrical audio soundtrack could be experienced at home! Pandora’s box had been opened! Digital audio meant that the number of channels is now a moot point, only limited to the imagination and budget of the movie producers. It wasn’t long before Dolby Digital commercial theaters became Dolby ATMOS theaters and DTS became DTS X theaters delivering sound discretely to an array of speakers directly overhead, in addition to the 7 or more speakers already tied into the sound system. WOW!! Do you REALLY need all of those speakers in the home?? You do if you want a state of the art home theatre experience, but a great theater can be yours with only 5 speakers and a subwoofer IF, the design of the system is done right. Which brings me back to THE MOST important factor in creating a super system. It’s a thing called timbre matching. All of the speakers MUST have the same sound, particularly in the treble and midrange frequencies and the simplest way to do that is to use the same speakers or the same speaker manufacture’s series of speakers. Yo don’t want a Sherman tank running towards you to turn into a SMART car as it rolls over you! The other reason to use the same speakers everywhere is the efficiency or sensitivity of the speaker. This is how much power in gives how much sound out. Even though the efficiency of two different manufacturer’s speakers may be the same on paper they may differ greatly in practice. If you are looking for a GREAT home theater experience get in touch with Wired 1 Consulting. You’ll be glad you did!

Fixing Problems
Not all of our work is setting up amazing home theatres and awesome distributed audio/video systems… sometimes we just have to fix problems (not created by us)! This client had a defective ductless split, that was installed over the entertainment system in their living room. The a/c unit started leaking due to a blocked drain while they were away and ruined the cabinetry and the flooring, but luckily not the electronics. So, a new cabinet was built, floors replaced and equipment re-mounted and connected.
NOTE TO CONTRACTORS: Do not install ductless splits over a predetermined television location!! The ductless spit repaired (hope it doesn’t leak again).

HDMI cautions.
In the past 2 months we have had 2 clients with very nice theatre systems complain that they had no picture. Our service calls revealed that the HDMI connection ports had been damaged by excessive voltage. Both of these clients have very good a/c power protection, so how did this happen? The power/surge protectors protect the equipment that is plugged into them, but do nothing to protect the electrical components from each other! We can’t point fingers, as these clients were using different service providers (Bell & Rogers), but we suspect that these over voltages came from these devices.
Unfortunately most power/surge devices do not protect your receiver from power spikes and surges that come in on the HDMI cabling. We are actively investigating this issue. There are a few listed online, but as yet we have not tested them. More to follow.

The declining build quality of electronics and how to protect your investment
The picture is a top line $2000 55″ UHD 4K television. The 4 dots you see in the middle of the picture just suddenly appeared, and they WON’T go away! This TV set is just over 2 years old and unfortunately just over a year out of the one year manufacturers warranty. The fix for this problem is a screen replacement – total cost for our client $2300!!
Needless to say, they bought a new TV, but, this time they also purchased an underwritten extended service contract from us, so if anything happens to the TV, I mean anything (a power surge or lightning strike is covered, even the remote control is covered), it is either repaired or replaced with the current equivalent of what they originally purchased with no expense to them.
Ask about our extended service plan for your new electronics purchase. Protect Your Investment!
